What Is Epiphysics?

Epimechanics is the theory — the mathematical grammar of how representations change under forces. Epiphysics is the empirical program — testing whether that grammar generates real predictions in real domains.

The Core Insight

All representations have mechanical structure — that's just calculus. Apply $F = dp/dt$ to any time-varying quantity and you get force, mass, energy. The question is whether that structure is useful — whether it predicts dynamics better than domain-specific models alone.

The answer, partially proven: representations that track real causal structure have simple mechanical form. The quadratic Lagrangian is the minimum-cost kinetic energy under reasonable conditions (theorem). Noether's theorem gives conservation laws for free (compression). The Lagrangian framework beats generic ODEs for any system with symmetries.
